Swag Me

Transformational Beauty symposium

I had the pleasure of attending the Transformational Beauty symposium held on April 28, 2011 at the New York Hilton.

Beginning with a presentation by Laura McEwen, Vice President and Publisher, and Elaine D'Farley, Beauty Director, of SELF, the luncheon included a panel discussion moderated by Karen Young, CEO, The Young Group with panelists Caroline Pieper-Vogt, CEO, Fusion Brands, Inc., Marc Speichert, CMO, L'Oreal USA, Kathleen McNeill, President, Beauty.com and Maureen Case, President, Specialty Brands, The Estee Lauder Companies. Sponsored by: The Estee Lauder Companies, SELF, Fusion Brands, Inc, P&G Prestige, and Bobcar.

And the best part of the event was the wonderful SWAG. Always love free beauty products. The beautiful eye palette from Bobbi Brown is perfect for Fall, with it’s gorgeous dark purple and two light iridescent highlighters…may I say the perfect purple smokey eye!

New Year New City...

Happy 2011!

Snow, snow and more snow plus New York Fashion Week events...what a great intro into NYC. I cannot say how happy I am to be here!

Wow, how the end of 2010 just flew by. I have been so busy finishing up in DC with NOVA Fashion Week and tons of photo shoots and weddings. As most of you know, my husband and I moved to Manhattan at the end of the year. I am now getting settled into our new place, which is absolutely beautiful. Thank you so much to all of my wonderful DC photographers and clients! I will miss you all. As promised I will be back to visit!

I wanted to share images from one of my last photo shoots in DC with Sweet Tea Photography by Lisa Marie and Amber Karson Events. I absolutely love working with these wonderful artistic and talented ladies. This shoot was editorial explosion full of fun ideas for a New Years party. Never too early to start planning for next year.

This event was a huge success last year and has become an annual showcase thanks to you. With the help of our extraordinary sponsors and supporters last year, we were able to create a
phenomenal Fashion showcase.

October 17, 2010 marks the special day of Fashion for Hope. Inner Expressions and Women for Women International will come together for our second annual must see event. Fashion for Hope was created with the vision of helping others. This event will begin with a small meet and greet cocktail VIP reception followed by the extraordinary Fashion Showcase. This fashion showcase will highlight designers on skills and creativity. Through this wonderful showcase we are not loosing site of the purpose. Proceeds from this event will support the organizations projects and programs.

As seen on Oprah, WFWI mobilizes women to change their lives through a holistic approach that address the unique needs of women in conflict and post- conflict environments. WFWI begin by working with women who may have lost everything in conflict and often have nowhere else to turn. As each woman engages in a multi-phase process of recovery and rehabilitation, she opens a window of opportunity presented by the end of conflict to help improve the rights, freedoms and status of women in her country. As women who go through the program assume leadership positions in their villages, actively participate in the reconstruction of their communities, build civil society, start businesses, train other women and serve as role models, they become active citizens who can help to establish lasting peace and stability. Engagement Photo Shoot: Tips from the Pros

I have had the pleasure of working with Cicely, owner of Procopio Photography. I asked her the other day for some tips for couples who are doing upcoming engagement sessions. Here is what she had to say:

“My tips for brides on engagement sessions: Really plan for your engagement session. The more you put into a shoot, the more you will get out of it. Getting your hair and makeup done is a must, you are only going to have one engagement session, so make it glamorous! Take the time to think about your outfits and what style/look are you going for. Another thing a bride can do to optimize their session is to talk to their photographer about their ideas. At Procopio Photography we take the time with all of our brides to help guide them toward a customized engagement session. Hilary & Paul are a prime example of a couple who's outfits, hair/makeup, & overall ideas for the shoot really all came together fabulously! Thank you Carla for your outstanding artistry on Hilary's hair and makeup!”

Check out some images from our latest engagement session with a fun couple, Hilary and Paul. Makeup and hair by Carla Ligon-Miller, CLMmakeup and images by Cicely Procopio, Procopio Photography.
