Everyone LOVES a care package?

Care Packages and Photographers

The other day I received a “care package” from a photographer I had worked with while doing a wedding several months back. The feeling took me back to college when your mom would send you a package of goodies and treats to let you know how much mom and dad missed you. It is always nice to receive a package, even if it was something you ordered on-line…we all love packages. I take that back, it is even better when it is something you did not pay for nor one you expected to receive.

The package was from wedding, portrait and boudoir photographer Amie Otto. It included a CD with several images from the wedding we both worked on as well as a small stack of note card she had made from one of the beautiful portrait images of the bride. Needless to say I loved it! The images were beautiful. To me photography is a true art form, like many things in this industry. I always say that photos are extremely optioned. In other words, the photos from a wedding are like viewing the experience from someone else’s perspective. It is their take on your day, the people and the entire event.

When brides ask my opinion on photographers I always recommend picking a photographer that want to be around you all day. This person or persons are going to capture everything you experience as well as some of the details or tiny moments that you were too busy to admire. Amie not only has a wonderful, friendly and warm personality, but she has a timeless and romantic way in which she capture weddings, people, events. She describes her style as, “documentary and modern photography, with a classic sensibility.” I would have to agree.

Please check out Amie’s work on her site, http://amieottophotography.com/. Here are some images from the CD Amie sent me. Enjoy!

Thanks again Amie! Just wanted to let you know that you made my day!! I look forward to working with you again soon.

Boudoir is all the Rage

Some may think 1950’s pin up girl, others Playboy. But I would say it somewhere in between or even better...what you want to make of it! Most women who do the sessions say they feel liberated as well as invigorated after the experience. Believe me. I know. I also love hearing the reasons why women do the photo shoot. As you can imagine many do it for their husband or boyfriend, or at least that is what they say. I seem to think that most do it for themselves. To find that inner confidence, beauty and let if shine externally. One of the most inspiring answers (because I always ask who they are doing it for or why) was a lady who said that she was currently 15-20 pounds heavier than she had ever been in her life, but she had never been happier or more confident than right now!

Check out some beautiful images from a boudoir session I did with Tait Boudoir. If you are interested in signing up for your own boudoir session go to www.dcboudoir.com/contact. Please let her know that I referred you.

And pick your own reason for having them done!

DC Fashion Week, September 2009

International Couture Fashion Show

What girl does not love a fabulous fashion show?!? All the glam, the makeup, hair and not to forget the beautiful clothing. Smokey eyes and nude lips were all the rage. Then ending with some ruby red lips. I was so thrilled to be accepted as a makeup artist for this year’s DC FASHION WEEK. Thursday night I did makeup for a trunk show in Senate Square. And then more makeup for the grand finale International Couture Fashion Show at the French Embassy on Sunday. What a fun experience. I met so many wonderful designers, models, makeup artist and hair stylist from all over. You were all such a pleasure to work with! Thanks Jimmy, Associate Producer of DC Fashion Week, for letting me be a part of it all!! Enjoy photos of some of the models I did for the International Couture Fashion Show on Sunday. As well as my walk on the red carpet in my Christian Louboutins.

Adult Swim: Dare to be Fashionably Courageous•Courage Cup Fashion Show•Liaison Hotel•August 23, 2009

Andrea Rodgers, also known to many as Miss A, asked me to do makeup for the fashion show at the Liaison Hotel. One of my good friends and also a makeup artist, Kim Reyes, helped to get the models runway ready. You may recognize many of the models who are also Wizard dancers. All models are wearing designer swimwear from SyLene of Washington.

Thanks Kim for all of your help! And to Miss A for asking me to be a part of the event!!

Miss A writes, " Adult Swim: A Dare to be Fashionably Courageous was the fabulous Paul Wharton, who is a popular modeling and style coach from MTV’s hit series MADE model show and VH-1s hot new series The Agency, Paul provides innovative and cutting edge image enhancement advice to young women that aspire to break into the modeling industry and to those that just want to look and be fabulous!
